Woman on Life Support After Refusing to Comply With Fairfax County Deputies

A 37-year-old woman is on life support after resisting Fairfax County deputies while she was in custody earlier this week.

Sources told News4 the woman was in custody of Fairfax County Sheriff's Office deputies on Feb. 3 at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center's mental health unit. She was facing an assault against law enforcement charge in Alexandria City.

Right before she was scheduled to be transported to Alexandria, a source said she physically resisted the deputies' commands, and one of them used a Taser on her to get her to comply. She was then moved to another area for transport and checked on by medical personnel. Next, a source said she experienced a significant medical emergency.

More deputies and an EMS crew were called to the scene, where they performed CPR on the woman.

She was hospitalized in critical condition, where she remains on life support in an intensive care unit, sources said.

An internal investigation is underway.
