Maryland Woman in Her 70s Accused of Killing 82-Year-Old Neighbor

Woman in Her 70s Killed Neighbor in Her 80s: Police

Police say a woman in her 70s beat her 82-year-old friend to death. Tracee Wilkins reports. (Published Monday, Sept. 9, 2019)

A Maryland woman in her 70s killed a woman in her 80s and then called 911 herself to report the crime, police say.

Chun Yong Oh, 73, is charged with the murder of 82-year-old Hwa Cha Pak. The two were neighbors, Prince George's County police say.

The building is a senior living facility, and the two were longtime friends, their stunned neighbors told News4.

Bladensburg police responded to an apartment building in the 5000 block of Emerson Street at about 7:15 a.m. Sunday. They found Park in a garden behind the building suffering from trauma to the upper body. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the preliminary investigation, Oh and Pak "had been in a dispute prior to the murder," county police said. Oh hit Pak several times with a brick and then called 911, police said.

Management of the senior living facility did not immediately respond to an inquiry.

Oh is charged with first- and second-degree murder and is being held without bond.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
