Woman Waiting for Bus Hit, Killed by Car

Driver charged with DWI

A woman was killed after she was struck while waiting for a bus by a car that lost control on Saturday.

Fairfax County police said Senait Mamo, of Springfield, was killed when she was hit on Old Keene Mill around 2:05 p.m. Saturday. Police said she was waiting at that location for a bus and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The car that struck Mamo continued, crossing the median and striking another vehicle.

The driver of the first car, Corey English, 22, of Fredericksburg, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated. Investigators believe speed and alcohol were factors in the crash. Addition charges are pending.

English and two passengers in his car were transported to Inova Fairfax Hospital, where they were treated and released. The driver of the second vehicle was also transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
