Woman Struck, Killed by Cars on Outer Loop of Beltway

Maryland State Police believe woman wandered into road after accident

Maryland State Police identified a woman killed in a hit-and-run on the Beltway June 8 as 22-year-old Tiara Nichelle Jackson, of Clinton, Md.

Part of the Outer Loop was shut down that morning as Maryland State Police investigated the accident near the exit for Ritchie Marlboro Road in Forestville about 2:20 a.m. Police believe the woman was involved in a single-car collision with a guardrail that ended in her 2004 Chrysler Sebring spinning out on the left shoulder of the road. Authorities told News4 that it appears the woman then got out of the car and walked into the road, where she was struck by multiple cars.

Police are classifying the incident as a hit-and-run, saying that none of the cars that hit the woman stayed on the scene. Investigators said that her body was "destroyed beyond recognition."

Police believe that the woman was the owner and sole occupant of the car.

Traffic on the Outer Loop was diverted onto Ritchie Marlboro Road while the scene was investigated. The highway reopened about 7:45 a.m. June 8.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Maryland State Police at (301) 568-8101.
