Woman Shot to Death During Assault of Transit Police Officer

A police officer shot and killed a woman during an altercation in Glen Burnie, Md., Saturday evening.

Two people flagged down a Mass Transit Administration police officer for help with a woman bothering them at a bus shelter at the Cromwell Light Rail Station before 6:30 p.m.

When the officer spoke to 38-year-old Angela Beatrice Randolph, she attacked the officer, choking her and pulling her hair, Anne Arundel County police said.

The officer could not get away from Randolph, witnesses said, and others unsuccessfully attempted to get the woman off the officer.

The officer managed to take out her gun and fire one shot into Randolph’s upper leg, police said.

Randolph and the officer were taken to local hospitals. Randolph was pronounced dead. The officer is expected to recover from her injuries.
