About 20 minutes later a Chevrolet Silverado was reported stolen from a spot within walking distance from where police found the Yukon.

Police began searching for the truck, and the manhunt took officers to Spotsylvania County.

Officers heard a single gunshot in a wooded area near Allison and Clay streets about 7:35 p.m. and found Ellis with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead a short time later, police said.

It's unclear why the victim and suspect were at the McDonald's, but police said the shooting wasn't random and the two knew each other.
