Woman Sexually Assaulted Near Community Pool in Gaithersburg

Victim said a man dragged her into a wooded area behind the pool before assaulting her

UPDATE: Montgomery County police released a sketch of a possible culprit in a July 9 rape.


Police are on the scene where a young woman was sexually assaulted late Monday afternoon.

The attack happened around 5 p.m. near the Hadley Farms community swimming pool in Gaithersburg, Md.

The victim, 21, said a man dragged her into the Green Farm Conservation Park, a dense wooded area behind the pool, and raped her.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, 5'5" to 5'7", and weighing 130 to 150 pounds. He was wearing a black knit cap and blue jeans, and was last seen leaving the park on foot toward Brenish Drive.

News4's Derrick Ward said it was still unclear whether the woman was there because of the pool or for another reason.

Detectives and a K-9 unit searched the are in early evening.
