Woman Raped in Reston After Being Followed From Grocery Store: Police

Police in Fairfax County, Virginia, have released a sketch of a man suspected of attacking and raping a 49-year-old woman in Reston.

The Fairfax County Police Department said the incident happened on June 11 at about 11 p.m. in the area of Reston Parkway and Baron Cameron Avenue.

There, police found a woman who had been hit from behind and raped on a nearby walking path.

The suspect is described as being about 50-60 years old, with a skinny build, gray wavy hair, light-colored eyes and a wrinkled face.

The woman told officers on June 13 that she had been shopping at a Harris Teeter grocery store in Reston where she struck up a conversation with the suspect, according to an affidavit submitted to Fairfax Circuit Court.

She had left the store and was on the walking path when the suspect allegedly struck her and raped her. She was able to escape and ran towards Baron Cameron Avenue where police found her. She was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
