Police: Woman Raped at Apartment Building in Woodbridge

Detectives are searching for a man who raped a woman early Wednesday morning outside an apartment building in Woodbridge, Virginia.

The woman told Prince William County police that she returned to the building in the 12200 block of Stevenson Court about 6 a.m. when a man she didn't know confronted her in a stairwell with a gun.

The suspect tried to sexually assault her and eventually forced her to go outside to the back of the building where he raped her, police said. He then told her to walk to a wooded area nearby as he ran off.

Officers searched the area with a K-9 but couldn't find the suspect. Police said there would be more officers in the area as the investigation continues.

The suspect is a black man between 25 to 30 years old who stands 5 feet 10 inches tall. He has a heavy build with a "beer belly," a short black afro, a half sleeve tattoo with writing and angel wings on his right arm and he was last seen wearing a white t-shirt and white and black Jordan tennis shoes.

Police are asking anyone with information to call 703-792-6500.
