Maryland Woman Pleads Guilty to Hiding 13-Year-Old Girl's Body

Veronica Alford admitted to helping her son and another boy cover up the accidental fatal shooting of a teenage girl

A Baltimore woman has pleaded guilty to helping her son and another boy cover up the accidental fatal shooting of a teenage girl.

Veronica Alford pleaded guilty Monday to being an accessory after the death of Monae Turnage, 13.

Turnage was shot when a 13-year-old boy fired a rifle while playing with it.

A 12-year-old boy told investigators he helped move Turnage from a rowhouse and into an alley, where her body was found under some trash bags. Police say Turnage's body was too heavy for the boys to have moved by themselves. Investigators say they found Alford's DNA on Turnage's clothing.

The 13-year-old boy who pulled the trigger is in custody of juvenile services. Alford's sentencing is scheduled for June 13.
