Woman Found Dead at Takoma Park Office Complex Had Worked There Part-Time

The woman whose body was found near a dumpster at a Takoma Park office complex Tuesday morning had worked in the complex, police say.

She has been identified as 34-year-old Elena Gugicheva, Takoma Park Police said Wednesday.

Gugicheva had been trained as a paralegal and worked part-time in the office park, police said. 

Around 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, maintenance worker Duane Douglas found her body at as he took out some trash at the Hampshire Place complex, located in the 7500 block of New Hampshire Avenue.

Gugicheva had been stabbed.

Sources said Gugicheva had been allowed to stay in the office of an attorney for whom she would do clerical work from time to time. Douglas said she had been around the area for several years.

Investigators spent a lot of time focusing on an area inside the building, looking into the possibility she was killed inside then placed near the dumpsters, News4's Pat Collins reported.

This was the first homicide in Takoma Park this year.
