PD: Woman Fled After Hitting Two People With Her Car in Arlington Parking Lot

One person was critically injured and another was hospitalized following a hit-and-run in Arlington Tuesday afternoon.

Police said a woman driving an SUV drove into a parking lot in the 3600 block of Columbia Pike, struck a car, and while backing out, struck a bystander.

"She didn't want to stop, she ran over my foot then ran over my partner. Basically she pushed him with the car then the second time she ran him over and pushed me away," Ahmad, one of the victims, told News4.

The other victim has been hospitalized in critical condition.

"She was stopped there for what we think was for a minute, then she hit the gas and knocked the gates out of the way," Arlington County Dep. Chief Daniel Murray said. "The problem was that the first individual who had already fallen was still laying on the ground and she ran over him."

Witnesses on the scene said they attempted to stop her, but she fled.

She was driving a light-colored Toyota Highlander and police are looking for surveillance video of the crash.
