Woman Fatally Stabbed in NE DC

Happened after midnight on December 4

Police in D.C. are investigating a fatal stabbing in northeast D.C.

Metropolitan Police report a woman was found dead in a home in the 500 block of 23rd Place about 12:30 a.m. Sunday.

The victim has been identified as 47-year-old Elaine Coleman, a resident of northeast D.C. Her daughter found her after calls to her went unanswered Saturday, News4's Pat Collins reported.

Coleman had been stabbed several times, Collins reported.

Her daughter said Coleman was her best friend and they talked at least once a day. Coleman, who worked as a cashier, lived in the Kingman Park home about 20 years.

Police have not released any information on possible suspects or a motive yet.  Anyone with information on the crime has been asked to call 1-800-673-2777 or text message a tip to 50411.
