Woman Killed, Husband Injured in Hit-and-Run

Police believe they have found the driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run accident Monday night in Montgomery County.

Pierre Michel, 29, was found two hours after the accident in a nearby residential area. His BMW was found on a neighborhood street about a mile from the scene in Wheaton, Md.

It happened at about 9:45 p.m. Monday. Police said a husband and wife had just gotten off a bus and were walking across Viers Mill Road near Center Hill Street when they were struck. The wife died, her husband was critically injured.

Investigators said Michel initially stopped, but later left the scene. Police fanned out in a nearby neighborhood and eventually found Michel and another man believed to be his passenger.

Investigators said Michel underwent a breathalyzer test and was interviewed by police before being released.

Prosecutors must now decide if charges should be filed in the case.
