A 26-year-old mother allegedly was shot and killed by the father of her 6-year-old daughter in a shopping center parking lot in Virginia Sunday.
Linh Thi Pham, of Bristow, was due to appear in court at a child support hearing Monday morning with her ex-boyfriend, according to her family.
Bryan Christopher Yu, 33, of Ashburn was arrested Monday when he showed up in court for the hearing.
Pham was leaving her job at the Bubbles hair salon in the Virginia Gateway shopping center in Gainesville when she was shot as she sat in her car about 5:30 p.m., police said.
She was flown to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Yu is charged with first-degree murder and use of a firearm in commission of a felony. He is being held without bond.
Bubbles, where Pham worked as an assistant manager, was closed Monday so coworkers could mourn. Coworkers said Pham shaved her head in support of a customer going through cancer treatments last year.
This is the county's 20th homicide this year.
