Woman Stabbed in Dumfries; Female Suspect Sought

A woman was airlifted to a hospital with serious injuries after she was stabbed in Dumfries, Virginia, police say.

The woman was stabbed by another woman about 10:45 a.m. Monday near the intersection of Potomac Highlands Circle and Quantico Gateway Drive, Prince William County police say. 

The attacker ran away, and police say they are searching for her with a helicopter and K-9 unit.

Police described the suspect as a 5-foot-9, black woman with curly hair. She was wearing a white shirt, pink pants and white shoes when she was last seen, police said.

The victim is expected to survive, police said.
