Woman Nearly Abducted While Painting in Northern Va.

A Northern Virginia woman putting the finishing touches on an oil painting last weekend was shocked when a man came out of nowhere and attempted to abduct her.

Jeanne Hospod told News4 she was finishing an oil painting of trees and the night sky along Arlington Mills Road in Shirlington, Va. around 1 a.m. Saturday morning when she heard a stranger's voice behind her.

"He said, 'What are you doing?' And I turned around really fast at him and saw that he had a knife," Hospod said.

What came next was even more chilling for Hospod.

"He said to just come with him and everything would be OK,'" Hospod recalled.

She said instinct kicked in -- she dropped her paintbrush and sprinted about a block to a nearby supermarket where she called police.

Hospod wants other women to be aware of their surroundings and not fall victim to a crime like this.

"You can't be lulled by a false sense of security. A lot of people I'm sure are saying, 'What is she doing painting at that hour?' And with everything that happened... I'm not going to do that again," Hospod said.
