Woman Killed in Anne Arundel Accident

Police: woman was thrown from SUV after swerving around cars at red light

Police are investigating a single-car accident that resulted in the death of a woman Friday afternoon in Jessup.

Christina Marie Tobash, 35, of Baltimore, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, which happened shortly before 3 p.m. Friday near the intersection of Telegraph Road and Annapolis Road.

Investigators say that Tobash was approaching the intersection in her 2002 Ford Explorer when she swerved into the left lane to avoid cars that were waiting at a red light. Authorities say that Tobash continued through the stoplight before losing control of the car, which swerved off the road and struck the curb and a utility pole before overturning several times and crashing through a chain-link fence. Police say Tobash was thrown from the car prior to its coming to rest.

Investigators believe that speed was a factor in the crash. It is not known if drugs or alcohol were involved.
