Wicomico County Sheriff's Office Nabs “Best Dressed” Title

The Wicomico County, Md., Sheriff's Office has been named "best dressed" by a national organization that represents companies that make and sell uniforms.

The North American Association of Uniform Manufacturers and Distributors selected the share-area law enforcers for its 2013 Best Dressed Public Safety Awards in the Sheriff's Office category.

Sheriff Mike Lewis changed the office's uniforms after his election in 2006, the Daily Times of Salisbury reports. (Click through to see an image of their dapper attire)

The standard uniforms are gray and black. There are other uniforms for other situations, such as the black work utility uniform that dog handlers can wear.

The association said about 235 entries were submitted across different categories. Among the criteria used to select winners were innovative uses of fabric and color and having uniforms that allow law enforcers to do their jobs.
