A White House staffer was indicted for allegedly threatening a U.S. Capitol Police officer with his own weapon during an argument at her home last month, according to the Prince George's County State's Attorney's Office.
After Barvetta Singletary and the officer had sex at her Upper Marlboro home Aug.7, she confronted him about another woman he was dating, according to court documents. She asked to see his cellphone and he refused, the state's attorney's office said.
Outside, Singletary took the officer's two cellphones and .40-caliber Glock 23 service weapon from a bag in his car and took them inside her house, and the officer followed to get them back, according to the state's attorney. When the officer refused to give Singletary his passcodes, she threatened to use the gun.
"You taught me how to use this. Don't think I won't use it," she said, according to the arrest warrant.
When the officer again refused to give her the passcodes, Singletary said, "Your phone is more important than me holding the gun on you."
Singletary pointed the gun in his direction and fired one round into the sofa where he was sitting, police said.
The officer left and called 911.

Singletary, a special assistant to the president and house legislative affairs liaison, was placed on unpaid leave and denied access to the White House complex, a White House spokesperson said.
