The 21-year-old man accused of firing an assault rifle at the White House will appear in D.C. court on Monday.
Oscar Ortega-Hernandez, charged last week with attempted assassination of President Barack Obama, will appear before Magistrate Judge Alan Kay on Monday afternoon.
A new report from the New York Times said the Ortega-Hernandez, who has referred to himself as a "modern day Jesus" in a recently surfaced video recording, also had tried his hand at mixed martial arts fighting.
The Times reports that the Idaho man was dominant in his one and only bout this July.

“When his hand was raised in that ring,” said Eric King, who helped train Mr. Ortega at the Y.M.C.A. here, “I think that was one of the brightest moments of his life.”
The fight ended in the second round, with Mr. Ortega astride his prone opponent in what is called a full mount, pummeling him in the face. Technical knockout, the referee ruled. Mr. Ortega carried his infant son, Israel, in triumph.
Despite this performance, family members told the Times that Ortega did not have a violent demeanor.
If convicted, Ortega-Hernandez could face life in prison. President Barack Obama and his family were in Australia at the time of the shooting.
