Wegmans is recalling 7 and 18 pound bags of ice because they may contain pieces of metal and could pose a choking hazard.
The metal fragments came from a broken part in the machine that produces the ice.
The bags were sold between January 1 and June 10 in several states, including Virginia and Maryland.
The problem was discovered during a routine maintenance check. Wegmans says 6,000 bags may have the metal pieces inside.
So far, there have been no reported injuries.
Customers can return the ice for a full refund.
