A water main break Wednesday evening caused commuters traffic-induced headaches for much of Thursday.
The break occurred on Wisconsin Avenue in Chevy Chase at Dorset Avenue.
The 8-inch water main break was shut down around 8:40 p.m. Wednesday. The pipe was repaired by about 11:45 a.m. Thursday, but two of the three southbound lanes on Wisconsin remained closed for road repairs until about 4:30 p.m., slowing drivers heading into D.C. throughout the day.
Crews returned to make permanent repairs to the road Friday after the morning rush. They expected to leave before the evening rush.
