Water Warning for Prince George's Residents

90,000 customers lost water

Attention Prince George's residents: Keep boiling your water for the next few days.

Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission officials said following a weekend water main break, those with low or no water pressure, should boil water for at least a minute. The first test results came back negative, but the advisory remains in place. The second results are expected Tuesday, at which point the boil advisory could be lifted.

Areas affected include Temple Hills, Oxon Hill, Rosencroft, Saint Barnabus, Fort Washington and National Harbor.

Water problems in PG began early Saturday morning with a 42-inch water main break in Temple Hills.  Two homes were flooded and two homes were evacuated in the 5000 block of Henderson Road.

About 90,000 customers were without water, but service has been restored to most.  WSSC continues to work on the problem.

Freezing temperatures were blamed for the Henderson Road water main break, another water main breaks at Goldsboro Road and Massachusetts Avenue in Bethesda, as well as flooding due to the freezing of sprinkler pipes throughout the area.
