Washington Times Rearranges Staff

The Washington Times is announcing the appointments of senior editors as it reshapes its local print edition.

After cuts to coverage, the newspaper is shifting around staff. The Times says longtime national security reporter Bill Gertz is now the geopolitics editor and Sol Sanders will serve as international business editor. Robert Morton has been appointed associate publisher.

The changes come shortly after the paper announced layoffs and the elimination of its sports section and most local coverage.

Today's local print edition consists of two sections: an A section with political, national security and geostrategic coverage with sports and local news features. The B section includes editorials, opinion and cultural coverage. Readers will also find a note about the changes.
