Washington Ranks Low on ‘Manliest Cities' List

City's Masculinity Called into Question in Unscientific Survey

The Washington area has several sports teams: the Redskins, the Capitols, the Nationals, the Wizards and some of the best college sports teams in the country, but none of that matters when it comes to ranking America’s Manliest Cities.

Washington ranked 42 out of 50 in a study commissioned by Combo Brand Snacks.

The snack maker applied what might be considered an unorthodox methodology in creating the list.

Rankings were based on the number of pro sports teams, nearby NASCAR tracks, the number of pickup trucks, motorcycles, the number of construction workers and barbecue joints in an urban region.

The survey docked the Washington area points for the number of cupcake shops and cafes in the region.

Nashville, Charlotte and Oklahoma City were the top three.
