Metro Weekend Work Extends Through Presidents Day

Metro's weekend work extends through Presidents Day, Monday, Feb. 18 on the Red, Orange and Blue lines.

Metrorail is operating on a Saturday schedule, although aditional Red Line trains will start running at 6 a.m. The system opened at 5 a.m. and will close at midnight.

On the Orange Line, shuttle buses replace train service between Stadium-Armory and Cheverly. The Minnesota Avenue and Deanwood stations will be closed. Trains will run every 15 minutes. The last trains from New Carrollton to Cheverly will depart 50 minutes early, at 10:46 p.m. Monday.

On the Blue Line, buses will replace trains between Stadium-Armory and Largo Town Center. Five stations will be closed: Benning Road, Capitol Heights, Addison Road, Morgan Boulevard and Largo Town Center. Riders taking buses stopping only at Stadium-Armory, Addison Road and Largo Town Center should allow for an additional 35 minutes travel time.

On the Red Line, trains will single-track between Rhode Island Avenue and Takoma. Trains will run every 20 minutes between Shady Grove and Glenmont on Monday, except between 6 a.m. and 9 p.m., when trains will run every 10 minutes between Shady Grove and NoMa-Gallaudet.

The service changes continue through closing Monday.

Also on Monday, Metrobus will operate on a Saturday supplemental schedule; WMATA says customers should check timetables for details.
