Rockfish Season Reopens Briefly

DNR officials are reopening the rockfish season starting Friday and ending Monday. They said there's still 200,000 pounds of rockfish that can be caught under the state's allowable quota.

Fishermen on Kent Island have been itching to get back in the water for weeks so they can try to salvage the income they've already lost before the season officially closes for good.

DNR moved to close the season on Feb. 4, after discovering more than 12 tons of rockfish illegally caught in anchor nets.

The fishermen who have been hit hardest by this scandal are trying to put their frustrations behind them and are focusing on catching as many fish as they can before the season officially closes.
