Virginia Tech Reopens Classrooms 2 Years After Shooting

Virginia Tech University is reopening the section of an academic building today where a student gunman killed 30 people nearly two years ago.

The west wing of the second floor of Norris Hall was the scene of the worst shooting in modern U.S. history. The gunman killed 30 students and instructors in the building, then himself, on April 16, 2007. He had earlier killed two students in another building on campus. The 4,300-square-foot area has been converted into six new rooms and laboratories. It will house the new Center for Peace Studies and Violence Prevention. The re-opening ceremony is scheduled for 2:00 this afternoon.
