Virginia Woman Gets 6 Years in Murder-for-Hire-Plot

Woman tried to hire hit man to kill romantic rival

A former Loudoun County school bus driver has been sentenced to six years in prison for trying to hire a hit man to kill a romantic rival.

Ann Jenene Cinnamon, 41, of Sterling, pleaded guilty in February to murder for hire in U.S. District Court in Alexandria. She admitted making a $100 down payment in October to a man she thought was brokering a deal with a hit man. The man instead had contacted the FBI.

Cinnamon told the man she'd pay another $400 after the woman, who was dating the father of Cinnamon's daughter, was killed.

The six-year sentence roughly splits the difference between the five-year term sought by the defense and the term of seven to nine years sought by prosecutors.
