A Loudoun County elementary school teacher faces a drunken driving charge after school personnel reported a possibly intoxicated staff member.

Gregory A. Wuenschel, 48, of Ranson, W.Va., teaches physical education at Cedar Lane Elementary School in Ashburn, Va. He was reported to a Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office school resource officer Wednesday after being observed behaving peculiarly while co-teaching a class.

The investigation found Wuenschel drove to the school. He was charged with driving without a license and possession of alcohol on school property in addition to the driving under the influence charge.

Wuenschel was released on $2,500 bond. He is on administrative leave.

Wuenschel had been with the county for nine years.
