Virginia School Building Destroyed by Fire

A Virginia school building is destroyed after being engulfed by flames early Sunday morning.

Fire crews were called to the old Colonial Beach School building on Douglas Avenue around 4:30 a.m. Sunday. Images from the scene show the building in flames.

Bobby Hooker, a Colonial Beach resident who lives near the building, said the structure was 100 years old. He said the flames were out by 8 a.m., and has posted several pictures of the scene on his Facebook page.

There were no reports of injuries. Crews from Maryland were also called in to help battle the fire.

Fire boat units from Charles County, Md., assisted with water supply for the crews. Firefighters are continuing to find hot spots inside the shell of the building.

There is no word on a cause of the fire.
