Virginia Powerball Ticket Wins $1 Million

It's not $429 million. But hey, it's not bad at all.

Someone bought a Powerball ticket in McLean, Virginia that matched the first five numbers and missed only the Powerball number. It's worth $1 million.

There was no word on who bought the ticket.

Lots of smaller prizes were awarded in Virginia during the powerball drawing. The Virginia Lottery said 76,512 tickets won some amount, including the $1 million ticket and another that won $100,000.

The million-dollar ticket was purchased at a 7-Eleven at 6720 Old Dominion Drive.

Someone in Mercer County, New Jersey, meanwhile, won the $429.6 million Powerball jackpot.

Before Saturday night, there were 18 Powerball drawings without a jackpot winner; sale of Powerball tickets during those 18 drawings generated about $7.6 million in profits for the Virginia Lottery. All profits go to K-12 education in the commonwealth.
