A Fairfax man who was a cadet at Virginia Military Institute in Lexington collapsed in training on Monday and later died, the institute says.
Sean Duc Hoang, 18, collapsed Monday afternoon during routine physical training, VMI said in a news released. Medical personnel at the institute treated him at the scene and then rushed him to Stonewall Jackson Hospital in Lexington. Hoang was pronounced dead at the hospital shortly after 6 p.m. Monday.
Hoang graduated from Oakton High School in Vienna in 2015, VMI said. The biology major was a member of the Army Reserve Officer Training Corps.
The state medical examiner’s office in Roanoke will determine Hoang's cause of death.
