Virginia Governor Creates Anti-Human Trafficking Panel

Virginia's governor issued an executive order authorizing creation of a committee to address human trafficking.

Gov. Bob McDonnell made the announcement Friday at the conclusion of a two-day conference in Richmond. More than 200 representatives of advocacy groups, law enforcement, schools, victim services programs and social service and mental health agencies attended the first governor's.

McDonnell called human trafficking "one of the fastest growing criminal enterprises in the world." His executive order directs the secretary of public safety and other Cabinet members to establish a committee to make sure Virginia's response to the problem is coordinated and comprehensive.
