Virginia Undercover Drug Bust Ends in Shooting

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives was conducting an undercover narcotics operation in Dumfries, Va., Monday night when a suspect was shot, officials said.

At about 7 p.m., after a deal was made, ATF agents attempted to arrest a suspect, who fled the scene.

ATF agents and police from Dumfries and Prince William County pursued the suspect to Route 234 where the suspect tried to run over two agents with his vehicle, according to ATF.

ATF said agents then opened fire on the vehicle and the suspect was shot and taken to a local hospital. The suspect’s condition is unknown at this time.

The eastbound lanes of Dumfries Road were closed from Van Buren Road to the interchange, said Prince William police. Traffic going westbound on Dumfries road was limited to two lanes as traffic going eastbound was detoured to the third lane.
