Five people were killed in D.C. during a weekend in which all the city's police officers were on duty as part of the All Hands on Deck initiative.
The violence unfolded Friday morning, when 53-year-old Mary Anne Thomas was found shot to death in her southwest D.C. home, just a few blocks from Nationals Park.
That evening, 64-year-old Barbara Moore was found dead inside her home in the 4100 block of Gault Street NE. D.C. police said an autopsy determined her cause of death was strangulation.
Talbert Mitchell Bright, 48, was fatally shot early Saturday morning a few blocks from Union Station, said D.C. police. The scene is near a homeless shelter. Police arrested 30-year-old James Johnson on a second-degree murder warrant Sunday.
Around 3:30 a.m. Saturday, police said a group got into a fight in front of the Lux Lounge nightclub, located at 649 New York Ave. NW. During the fight, someone fired a gun. No one was hurt, but the shooting prompted Police Chief Cathy Lanier to order an emergency four-day closure of the club.
Then, early Sunday, police say 31-year-old Eboni Domally was fatally stabbed inside a home in the 5200 block of Queens Stroll Place in Southeast. Police have not named any suspects.

Late Sunday night, a fifth person was killed. Police say a man was fatally shot around 11 p.m. in the 1900 block of H Street NE. There is no information on a suspect.
According to the Washington Post, there have been 60 homicides in the District so far this year, compared with 38 at the same time in 2013.
