Va. Teacher Charged With Sending Lewd Messages to Student

A Prince William County, Va., teacher is charged with sending inappropriate, lewd messages to a student.

William Hayes Dignan, 42, of Gainsville, Va., was arrested Friday. Dignan teaches government classes at Stonewall Jackson High School in Manassas. He's also a football coach there.

He's accused of sending what police described as numerous sexually charged emails and text messages to a 16-year-old girl at the school. The messages were allegedly sent in early October.

Dignan is being held on a $15,000 bond.

A second teacher and football coach at Stonewall is also in trouble with the law. After officers searched Dignan's home, they arrested his roommate, Nicholas Brandon Rosser, 31, and charged him with marijuana possession. Rosser was released without having to post bail.
