Va. Mom Charged With Assaulting School Bus Driver

The mother of a Culpeper County student faces charges of assaulting a school bus driver.

Police say Bethany L. Rudd is accused of hitting the female driver in the face.

The incident occurred Friday afternoon as students from two elementary schools were getting off the bus.

The Culpeper County Sheriff's Department says Rudd allegedly approached the bus and yelled at the driver, claiming the woman threatened to kill her son.

After the incident, the driver told police that she had told the boy to sit down for safety reasons.

Rudd is charged with assault and battery, and trespassing. She remains free on a $2,500 bond.

A telephone listing for Rudd in the Culpeper area couldn't be found.
