Students at an Alexandria middle school were evacuated from the building for a short time Tuesday after the smell of gas was reported.
George Washington Middle School, which is located on Mt. Vernon Avenue, was evacuated just before 9 a.m.
School officials say an all-clear was given just after 9:15 a.m., and students were allowed to return to their classrooms.
