Va. Governor: I-95 Project Hits Halfway Mark

Gov. Bob McDonnell says construction of the Interstate 95 Express Lanes Project in northern Virginia is halfway complete.

The $940 million project is on schedule to be completed by late 2014, and the express lanes will open to traffic in early 2015.

The 29-mile Express Lanes corridor runs from Interstate 395 in Fairfax County to I-95 near Route 610 in Stafford County.

Existing HOV lanes on I-95 are being converted to use by carpoolers and those willing to pay tolls that will fluctuate based on traffic. The existing lanes are being widened from two to three.
