Va. Gas Company Cuts Rates

Falling wholesale prices lead to cuts

Columbia Gas of Virginia customers will be getting a break on their winter bills.

Effective Wednesday, Columbia is cutting its fuel supply rate for December, January and February due to falling wholesale prices, officials with the natural gas utility said.

The monthly bill for a residential customer who uses 10,000 cubic feet per month will decline by 8.5 percent to $157.66.

Chester-based Columbia Gas serves nearly 240,000 customers in portions of northern Virginia, Hampton Roads, suburban Richmond, central Virginia, the Shenandoah Valley, the Lynchburg region and parts of western Virginia.
