Students at two Alexandria schools were evacuated Wednesday after someone reported smelling gas.
Students at Polk Elementary School and nearby Hammond Middle School were evacuated within an hour of each other Wednesday. The schools are just under a mile away from each other.
School buses were brought to both schools to help students stay warm during the evacuation.
Schools officials say emergency responders found no danger at Polk Elementary School. Students and staff members were allowed back into the building just before noon.
The odor at Hammond Middle School is still under investigation.
