As police continue to search for a woman wanted in connection to a series of robberies across northern Virginia, more details about her checkered past are coming forward.
Stephanie L. Schwab, 26, of Manassas, is accused of carjacking a woman at Tysons Galleria over the weekend. Authorities say she posed as a college student who ran out of gas. She's also wanted in connection with two recent bank robberies at a BB&T Bank in Springfield and a Virginia Commerce Bank in Manassas.
In 2005 Schwab was a witness in a high-profile murder case involving the MS-13 gang.
Schwab testified against gang members who were accused of killing 17-year-old Brenda Paz, whose body was discovered along the Shenandoah River in 2003. Paz was an informant who was reportedly killed for being a "snitch."
According to the Washington Times, Schwab also has a lengthy criminal record that dates to 2003 and includes charges of larceny and battery.
On Tuesday, Schwab's mother, Helen, spoke with NBC Washington's Shomari Stone.
"Stephanie I love you. Please turn yourself in and no matter what happens, I'll stand by your side," she said. "Please think about the kids, and me, and yourself."
Helen Schwab said she hoped anyone who had seen Stephanie would call the police so her daughter could be taken into custody peacefully.
Stephanie Schwab is thought to be driving a stolen 2003 silver Acura with Virginia plates that read XEK 8095.
