Usher Helps Points of Light Honor Sens. Kennedy, Hatch

WASHINGTON -- Usher is among the entertainers joining business and civic leaders to honor U.S. Sens. Ted Kennedy and Orrin Hatch.

Points of Light Institute is honoring the senators Wednesday night for efforts that led to the signing of the Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act, which increases levels of volunteerism and supports and expands service programs like AmeriCorps.

In addition to Usher, guests and speakers include Michelle Nunn, CEO of Points of Light and co-founder of HandsOn Network; Neil Bush, Points of Light Board of Directors chairman; Jon Rice, vice chair of General Electric; and Dan Fager, government affairs for Chevron Corporation.

A reception was planned for Wednesday evening at the Russell Senate Office Building. It falls in the middle of National Volunteer Week.
