Unlucky 13: D.C. Lottery Shows Wrong Winning Number

The automated system that sends winning Powerball numbers to retail terminals where players claim their winnings had D.C. paying off for the wrong number Sunday.

The system showed the number 14 had been drawn Saturday night when in fact the number 13 had been drawn, D.C. Lotteru officials told News4.

Officials took the system offline from about noon until 9 p.m. Sunday.

D.C. Lottery honored all players who "won" with 14 before the system was taken offline. No D.C. tickets won more than $100 in Saturday's drawing.

D.C.'s was the only system that had the problem.
