A U.S. Secret Service officer riding a motorcycle was hit by a vehicle near the White House, officials said.
The uniformed division motorcycle officer was hit Monday afternoon at 15th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue NW.
The officer was conscious and speaking when he was airlifted, sources told News4's Jackie Bensen. Crews landed a medical evacuation helicopter on the nearby Ellipse.
The nature of his injuries is unknown.
News4 photos from the scene of the crash showed the motorcycle on its side near a black car.
No information on the cause of the crash was available immediately.
The area is closed to traffic.
