Two-Year-Old Critical After District Heights Fire

Fire happened around 2 a.m.

A 2-year-old girl is fighting for her life, following a house fire in District Heights early Friday morning.

The blaze broke out around 2 a.m. in the kitchen of a home on Hil-Mar Drive.
Two adults and two children, ages 9 and 2, were sleeping upstairs.

Investigators say smoke detectors woke the adults. They were able to rescue the 9-year-old boy, but they could not reach the 2-year-old girl.

When rescue crews pulled her out a window, she was not breathing. Fire fighters performed CPR and the little girl was revived at the hospital, but she is in critical condition.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
