Three-Week-Old Taken By Boyfriend

Police know where the baby is

A three-week-old baby that was stolen from her mother is now safe at home.

The mother's boyfriend had taken the baby from 12300 Coleraine Court in Reston Sunday after he had a dispute with his girlfriend over the baby's paternity, according to Bud Walker, a spokesman for the Fairfax County Police Department.

Khalifa Woods, 18, of 11830 Breton Court was apprehended Sunday in Anne Arundel. He was taken in on a warrant for kidnapping and also on charges of marijuana possession, Anne Arundel police said.

Walker added that after Woods took the baby girl, Fairfax Co. detectives tracked down Woods' family members, who live in Maryland, and contacted police departments in each jurisdiction with information on the case.

Anne Arundel police and FBI officials then found Woods at a family member's house in Pasadena, Md., and took him in. According to Walker, at that point, Woods had already given the baby to a family member, who brought the girl back to her mother in Reston.

Not every abduction case falls within the FBI's jurisdiction, but this one did and "Fairfax is very pleased with the help we got from the FBI on this case," Walker said.

Woods is currently in custody in Anne Arundel, where he is awaiting extradition to Virginia.

According to Walker, Fairfax will charge Woods with abduction.
