Two Teens Dead in Howard Co. Crash

Preliminary investigation says speed was a factor

Two Maryland teenagers were killed and three others hospitalized after a 2008 Pontiac GT struck a tree in Howard County Friday night.

Howard County Police confirmed that 18-year-old Jonathan Lloyd Deckman and 19-year-old Jeffrey Giles of Linthicum were pronounced dead at the site of the accident, which happened shortly after 8 p.m. Friday.

Investigators said that neither Deckman nor Giles were wearing seat belts. A preliminary investigation indicated that speed was a factor in the accident.

Three other victims were taken to Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore. The driver of the car, 18-year-old Dale Audet II of Linthicum, was listed in critical condition Saturday afternoon. Two other passengers -- 18-year-old Alyssa Yi and 16-year-old Carlie Davis, both of Glen Burnie -- were treated and released.

A prayer vigil for Giles will take place at 7 p.m. Saturday at North County High School in Glen Burnie.
